A Year Beneath Collins Street

In short: Van Helsing marks his room’s first anniversary: it opened at Escape This Melbourne CBD on 16 October 2026. Players read the hunter’s last letter, take up his relics and try to free the souls in Dracula’s catacombs.

Saturday. One year ago tonight my catacombs opened under Collins Street. I have marked the occasion by re-reading my own letter, the one that says I have failed.

I have not failed. I have been delayed. Since that night, parties of recruits have taken my relics into the cemetery and gone below to free the souls the Count left there. I do not keep their score in this diary; the house does that, and does it better.

The Count’s graveyard in Perth marks its own anniversary at the end of this month. His seventh. He will write something grand about it. I will read it, out of professional interest.

If you are in Melbourne and have not yet been below: the letter is waiting, the relics are wrapped, and I am, as ever, slightly dead and entirely ready.

FAQ

What this entry answers

What is waiting in Van Helsing’s catacombs?

Van Helsing opens with the hunter’s last letter: he has failed, and Dracula still lives. Among misty headstones in Melbourne CBD, you take up his sacred artefacts, break into the catacombs and try to free the souls Dracula judged unworthy of eternal life, before you end up beside them.

Can Melbourne players hunt Dracula?

Not Dracula itself. Melbourne has Van Helsing, which opened at Escape This Melbourne CBD in October 2026 and carries the hunter’s side of the Dracula story. Dracula stays in Northbridge, Perth.
